The beginning of a spontaneous trip towards Montalcino. Pienza itself is a 15th century town comissioned by Pope Pius II, built as a mirror of his birth town and intended to represent idealism in town planning. They are famous for delicious food (OH MY GOD is it good) and pecorino di Pienza, which is a sharp seasoned cheese made of ewe's milk. The tourists you'll find here are Italian, so it might be a good place to visit if you're in the area and want the real deal.
