North-America. Winters south to Guetemala.
The following 4 subspecies are being recognized:
Leiothlypis celata celata - Central-Alaska to South-Canada. Winters to Guetemala and Bahamas;
Leiothlypis celata lutescens - Southeast-Alaska to British Columbia and South-California. Winters to Guetemala;
Leiothlypis celata orestera - Rocky Mountains to Southwest-USA and West-Texas. Winters to South-Mexico;
Leiothlypis celata sordida - Coastal South-California and islands of Southwest-California and Baja.
