A search for some good birdable countries outside Africa, brought us to Costa Rica, where we stayed from April 7-29, 2015.
Our second day we picked-up our rental car and started our journey through the country.
The first week we did 'the northern loop', visiting sites like Poás Volcano, Sarapiqui and the Monteverde area.
From the second week on we were accompanied by our friends Erik and Jonne Kleyheeg,
with whom we travelled to sites like Carara, Corcovado, San Gerardo de Dota and Rancho Naturalista.
Time flew by, and the day of departure came at least three weeks to early.
Still we managed to see an astonishing 421 species of birds, 36 species of mammals and circa 40 species of reptiles and amphibians.
More then we could ever hope for.
