The following 4 subspecies are being recognized:
Corvus cornix cornix - North- and East-Europe;
Corvus cornix sharpii - Balkans to West-Siberia, Central-Asia and North-Iran;
Corvus cornix pallescens - Turkey and Iraq to Egypt;
Corvus cornix capellanus - East-Iraq to Southwest-Iran.
