Hej Ivan!
Nås på andreas.garpebring(snabel-A)lansstyrelsen.se MVH /Andreas

Hi Alexandr! I may be able to ID your butterfly if the photo shows both upper and undersides of the wings. Ivan kruys

Hi, Ivan Kruys! I have a question. Could you define what kind of butterfly? Maybe this is Melitaea britomartis Assmann, 1847. Hi, Ivan Kruys! I have a question. Thanks Ivan,
Are you aware of any other records of P.daplidice from Lanzarote before your sighting? I have just come back from Lanzarote and saw two males near Pto. del Carmen. there is an old unconfirmed record from the 1960's but I am unaware of any further records (apart from yours that is). Martin Wiemer's excellent article (1995) on butterflies of the Canaries mentions NO additional information from Lanzarote.

Regards

Martin

For the record, I would be very interested to find out whether the photo you took of the Dappled White (Pontia daplidice) was taken on Lanzarote or Fuertventura. It is important to know which island

Hi Gary,
Thanks for your kind words on my photos!

If you are staying in Playa Blanca the best place to visit is Salinas de Janubio, great for waders, ducks, trumpeter finches, berthelots pipit etc. Several visits could be worth while.

To get a chance of photographing the bustard go to el Jable and drive along the sandy tracks and a trip to Haria for canaries and the special Blue Tit is worth a try.
Try the golf courses for hoopoes, shrikes and partridges.
Good luck!
Regards,
Ivan
