L1020888 - 1954 Norton Manx

This one is from the Virgil Elings motorcycle museum in Solvang. That's Mr. Elings firing it up for the judges. Norton expert and judge George Cohen observes from the left and George Slark watches from the right.

The real Norton expert in that photo is the gentleman in the yellow hat, Brian Slark. He worked for AMC in Plumstead in the 1950's and 1960's and AMC's Western Factory Branch in Los Angeles from 1968 through the dissolution of the company in 1975, after which he ran Brian Slark Motorcycles/British Marketing in Costa Mesa, CA for 11 years. From the late 70's until present he was the Technical Editor for the International Norton Owners Association. Currently he's the Technical Consultant at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama.
