VNA is an example of Vermont farmers' ingenuity. Foster Brothers Farm in Middlebury created one of the state's first manure-to-methane anaerobic digesters, using the methane to fuel an electrical generator. ("Cow Power" is now a regular part of Vermont's effort to create a sustainable economy.) Then they researched way to combine the solid residue, which does not smell like manure, with a variety of other materials. The resulting line of "Moo" gardening products is now more profitable than the milk. VNA gave me permission to take pictures in the stockpile storage yard, where yet more fertile combinations had resulted.
