Here's another shot of the enigmatic Oscar. Of course I couldn't post a traditional portrait (though I may get around to it), but had to try something a little different. I like the contrast of this backlit shot. I don't think backlighting is used much in portraiture (for people or animals) but I really think that there is definately some opportunities in working with it.

I think living in the digital realm really opens things up, too. Having instant feedback about exposure on tough lighting such as this is really a huge advantage. Back in the film days, this would have been a tough shot, even with precise metering. Bracketing would have been crucial, and even then I don't think there was any guarantee of the exact effect one was looking for (unless one did A LOT of bracketing). I miss film less and less every day!
