Fairfield Hills State Hospital 8-06

It was not long after the state emptied the buildings of it`s mental hospital in Newtown,Connecticut that the abandoned asylum attracted the attention of both Hollywood and ghost seekers. The 1996 film 'Sleepers" and MTV`s "Fear" focused attention and increased the sinister vibe that many say they feel here. As a result, Fairfield Hills has been featured by the media as a hot spot for paranormal activity.

I was at Fairfield state hospital grounds from July 1 thru end of August in 1984 in the Daytop program we dormed in the first brick building on the left I was there a month when I was in my room trying to sleep when she walked by a woman glowing green she stood over the person I roomed with as he was sleeping I was in shock so scared frozen she had long Curley hair a long dress and when she turn to walk out of the room my eyes followed her it wasn't like she was walking it was like she was without legs I don't know the word for that but she went right thru the closed door I finally fell asleep at dawn I went to my counselor and told him and said I wanna go home he said I have to stay or I will use drugs again I was scared to use again so I stayed they let me stay up at night til dawn with the nite watch person and sleep from dawn till 11am it was a true experience which had opened my eyes I was petrified then but 31 years later I'm glad I saw it

Supposedly Gene Rosen, the actor who helped scared Sandy Hook children worked here for a few years.

I lives there for over 2 years!! I have nightmares every night since I've been out 21 years ago!!all though I go on with life that place has ruined me!!! I threw up just looking at the pics!!! Its funny to read peoples post about it that place was HORRIBLE!!!!!!

I live about 10 minutes away from here, and a lot of kids I know drive over at night to wander around there for thrills and stuff. I've been there a few times in the daylight, but one night about three years ago I decided to go with my friends just because I had nothing better to do. We got there and just walked around, and we found that a window on one of the buildings was only partially covered by plywood. All three of us squeezed inside and walked around. It was hard to see, but we were in a corridor and there was a staircase at the end. We walked over, and just as I was about to ask them if we should go up, there was a loud crashing noise from above us. I kid you not. We booked it out as fast as we could and haven't been back since, and I don't plan on going back any time soon.

I worked there from 1978-1982 and never felt unsafe or afraid. The buildings were truly beautiful, architecurely speaking, the grounds were magnificent over all it was not a terrible place to work. I worked in the dental clinic and we saw people from all houses and and in every stage of psychiatric incapacity. It was both interesting and challenging. I think the hardest patients to work with were the psychiatric adolescents and drug dependent adolescents. It was heartbreaking to see these young people in such distress.The patients would be brought over in groups, by house, by day of the week. Anywhere from 3-7 patients would show up at 8:30 am and be finished by noon, then again at 1:00 pm until 3:30 pm. We provided such services as routine cleanings to restorations, to root canals to extractions. We really did try and do our best by the patients and give the the best dental care possible in the time available with the finances we had to work with. I learned a great deal in regards to patient interaction no matter who the pateint was or what their limitations were. It has held me in great stead throughout my career. Let's face it, no matter who you are most people don't enjoy a visit to the dentist.

i am not a huge believer in ghosts but today i visited the property by mistake,my son caught some strange faces and orbs of light on his digital camera i felt cold air coming from broken doors and felt very sad and depressed on the sight. i might now be a believer wow go check this place out

from a forum i joined a month ago this place came in the discussion.. thats how i found this site.. i was there. because i was playing with a bb gun at age 15. what i dident know till after i got a lawyer was somone was shooting at my friend every time i shot at a target to make my friend think i was shooting him and that got me in that place.. anyway my 4th day there it was a thursday. at night i broke a door down and in the lobby threw a chair at a window and got away.. thats when i hired a lawyer.. they dont let you do that in there. the place is haunted for sure.. somone pushing my shoulder when im sleeping and when i wake up nuthings there. your afrade to sleep in that place the drugs they gave me did little to me so i pretended it was making me half asleep all day.. because i seen them put some to shock treetment just because somone was big and strong looking.. i heard them saying we gotta do somthing about that guy. i was so afrade i pretended to be sick so they wouldent worry about me that way.. the place was truely evil. if i dident brake out i wouldent have ben able to clear my self. you had no rights of any kind there unless you are told you can do somthing like even going to the bathroom you had to ask permission. the one that did the shooting at my friend faced criminal charges.. the court cleard my record of ever being there at that place.

i am so glad its not there any more.. i am so glad i can look at the photos and remember its not there any more. im the one with the bb gun.. you know.. when i got the blame for somthing.. i know the tormenters that worked there may be reading this.. i just want them to know a court found me to vbe sane.. anyone know what its like to be sane in a place like that. they will make me suffer no more.. with shock just because they think im up to somthing.. i was there 20 days.. let them know.... im sane and it was prooven.. my record shows the diagnose was not only wrong.. it was faked. at the request of some cops to the doctor.. and let them know. my life is vnot messed up.. (F) that place

I work at Fairfield hills hosp. from 1978 to 1984, I lived on the grounds in the dormatory, We did have lots of fun ,I liked my job. My mom also work there for 20 years.I guess People that don't know about fairfield hills might find it spooky, they had under ground tunnels where food was delivered to the different buildings. You had to keep your keys on you at all times. Many of the paitients there wondered the grounds. I moved when i has gotten married

me and my buddy just broke into this place about an hour and a half ago. i shit you not. we live in naugatuck and took a trip. we have a picture frame with maintenance forms inside of it.

Every time I drive through Fairfield Hills on my wayto work I get this horrible nauseating feeling. I truly believe there are spirits there. I heard many stories and because of how I feel when I first drivethrough the property i believe them. When I drive through the property, I feel so ill and then when my car leaves the property, I'm fine. SO no one can tell me that there is not something horribly wrong there.

I started working and living there as an eighteen year old.I have many fond memories of the place. My parents and in-laws were employed there for twenty or so years. It's kind of depressing to see the state of the facility.
