Clitocybe odora7441.jpg

Deerfield Ponds, Pawling NY

Morrs Palmer spotted a lovely group of Clitocybe odora on a deciduous tree-edged bank along the trail. This Clitocybe characteristically exhibits a bluish-green cap with an incurved margin that curves upward as the fruiting body matures. The gills are whitish, attached to slightly decurrent, close and broad and the spore-print is pinkish. The base of the whitish stipe is surrounded in cottony mycelial threads. 'Anise-scented Clitocybe' is edible.
