These lovely little yellowish 'Jelly Babies' flourish in damp areas. They were discovered by our resident mycologist and asco expert, (Dr.) Roz Lowen. The head of Leotia lubrica is rather smooth, gelatinous and convoluted. The margin rolls inward toward the stem (same color as head).

Leotia Lubrica is considered to be a discomycete. The spore bearing surface is on the top and is as if the cup is curled downward or is inside out. There are paraphyses between the asci as in other discomycetes.
