We were surprised to fina any mushrooms growing in the woods on this walk, since it has been so dry throughout the summer. However, we did find a few: Lenzites betulina, a gilled polypore; Amanita bisporigera; Amanita cothurnata; Armillaria mellea; several species of russula from the mild tasting green ones to the bitter hot red ones. Another russula found was Russula sericeonitens, a mushroom I have seen at this time of yearin abundance at Silvan Glen. It is an edible.
