Eleanor Yarrow Fungi and Myxomycete Slide Collection Gallery
This gallery contains 707 images digitized from slides by Gerald Sheine. Gerry provided the name for each specimen featured. Sometimes the name is the one current at the time the photos were taken rather than the name used today. However, note there is no reason to be confused or upset - the mushroom remains the same, no matter its name.
Eleanor Yarrow was a member of the Connecticut-Westchester Mycological Association (COMA www.comafungi.org) for many years before she tragically died of cancer as a relatively young woman. Fortunately for us - and thanks to Sandy and Gerry Sheine - she lives on through her photos, which continue to aid the amateur mycology community in the identification and appreciation of fungi, their beauty and essential roles in the preservation of the planet's cycles of life and death and change.
Note that the photos will initially be presented in alphabetical form. As I have time, I will arrange them according to family and genus.
