10 14 06 Twin Lakes in Eastchester, NY

This location is a welcome new venue for the club, but a familiar one to our walk organizer and leader, Damon Brunette. We had a nice showing of members on this frosty, but sunny morning - including new members, Barbara and Mike. Lisa Solomon continues to delight and inspire me by seeking out the unusual and the small. Another highlight of the walk was finding a large fallen log covered in a huge number of different species of fruiting bodies. Of course, everyone was most interested in the Oyster Mushrooms!

Among the fungi we documented were the following:

ASCOMYCETES: Ascocoryne sarcoides; Bisporella citrina, Chlorociboria aeruginascens; Scutellinia scutellata
GILLED MUSHROOMS: Armillaria mellea; Armillaria gallica; Hypholoma sublateritium; Laccaria laccata var. pallidifoia; Lactarius spp.; Lepista nuda; Marasmius rotula; Mycena sp.; Mycena galericulata; Panellus serotinus; Panellus stipticus; Pholiota squarrosoides; Pleurotus ostreatus; Pluteus cervinus; Russula spp.; Xerula furfuracea
BOLETES: Leccinum scabrum
CHANTERELLES:
CORALS: Clavulina cristata
GASTEROMYCETES: Lycoperdon perlatum; Lycoperdon pyriforme
STINKHORNS:
JELLIES: Auricularia auricula
TOOTHED FUNGI: Hericium erinaceus
POLYPORES, STEREUMS & ALLIES: Daedaleopsis confragosa; Ganoderma applanatum; Grifola frondosa; Laetiporus sulphureus; Lenzites betulinus; Oligoporus caesius; Phellinus gilvus; Trametes elegans; Trametes versicolor; Trichaptum biforme; Tyromyces chioneus; Stereum commune; Stereum ostrea
MYXOMYCETES (Slime Molds): Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa; Lycogala epidendrum; Phsarum sp.
