Pittsburgh is a city of bridges. They say there are more bridges in this one city than in any other city in the world. The three rivers and hills all around with bridges connecting opposite sides make this easy to believe. The Smithfield Street Bridge is one of Pittsburgh's oldest and most lovely! An award winner when it was built, it is now on the National Historical Register. All around the rivers, gentrification is taking place. We are converting industry to service and recreation. You'll find photographs of the bridge and its environs here.
