I'm enjoying learning how to use the 40D . . .
But I haven't quite figured out how to control the DOF

For example, I wanted EVERYthing in focus . . . and the 40D didn't
I even turned off the AF but it still didn't QUITE get what I wanted

Granted, a breeze was messing with my canvas, but still . . .it shoulda been more in focus than this
doncha think?

A lovely photo even if it didn't turn out as you envisioned it. Beautiful daffodils contrasting with winter trees. And great composition.

As I love shallow focus I wouldn't change a thing but of course Robin has set you on the road to what your after.

This made for a very interesting photo. To achieve your objective you need to change your lens to f/11 or f/22.That means using a tripod too with the slower shutter speed. (and/or you could boost your ISO too) to be able to get a faster shutter too. That said, I like this shot. It is very interesting.

Terrific shot Pete. I would have thought it would be more in focus at f/7, but apparently you need a bit less aperture--f/11 perhaps?
