16 AUG 06

I've got some nice caterpillars growing this year not a bumper crop like last year,
but these guys are bigger than last year's . . . .

so quality over quantity this year
(and in accordance with my class, this would be a good macro except the leaf in front is not in focus)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
good point, Phil . . . . I should show that they grow up to be these
just in case you were expecting me to continue with a food theme this week
how about some genuine protein (other than the protein above
Very good close-up! I didn't get it. Do they grow butterfly or chicken breat? ;-)
This should become an outstanding butterfly.
Coleen is right . . . if you want to attract these guys, they LOVE dill and parsley
This is a great macro. You caught his texture so very well.
Coleen Perilloux Landry17-Aug-2006 02:21
Beautiful macro. You really do need parsley to attract these lovely creatures. And, the butterfly on the finger is something else---however did you do that?
Wow, I'm jealous. Between the drought and the triple digit temps (which they tell us to expect for at least another week) I have nothing green...I'm really concerned I won't have many butterflies this year. Pete, this is outstanding and perfect as far as I'm concerned.
I'm envious. Terrific work. This is a fine macro.
Oh so now you are giving petesie a run for her money. I am so envious of this shot. I try and try and try to find these guys and I never have. I think they are so beautiful. And I think you did the macro world proud with this shot. Forget that unfocused front leaf
