Venice of Hong Kong

Tai O is a small fishing village often called the "Venice of Hong Kong".
Located on the western side of Lantau Island,
it is a rare example of a Chinese stilt-house community and
the home to the Tanka people.
Tanka is a community of fisher folk
who have built their homes on stilts above the tidal flats for
generations because they are not comfortable on land.

Tai O has become one of the Hong Kong's most popular attractions.
Salted fish and shrimp paste are traditional products of this fishing village.
