The eight-petalled lotus symoblises the "Noble Eightfold Path" in Buddhism. The Noble Eightfold Path is essentially a practical guide of ethics, mental rehabilitation and mind deconditioning. It is believed, by Buddhists, to result in an end to dukkha, or suffering, which is a goal that has informed and driven the entire Buddhist tradition since its inception 2500 years ago.
