In Hong Kong, Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) was implemented in late 1990s. Most of the elderly in this day didn't have a chance to participated in the MPF scheme. They're only support by their own savings after retirement. Picking up used paper boxes and/or aluminium cans and then selling them for recycling have become their ways to earn a living.
