While the Chinese say “the moon becomes brighter at the Mid-Autumn Festival”,
that foggy evening enabled the rocks to bath in soft moonlight.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the two most important holidays in the Chinese calendar.
It falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month and this year it is on 14 September.
The festival is related to a Chinese story about a “woman on the moon” (around 2170BC).
It contrasts sharply with the “man on the moon” in the western world.
The place with colourful lights in the distance is a theme park in Mainland China.
