Mr. Deakin, Your pictures have truly moved me. Especially this one of Potipot island. I would stare at it and feel that I'm actually there. I could smell the salty sea breeze, the warm sun on my face, the sand between my toes and the ebb and flow of the tide rocking my body as if I was crouched down with the water up to my shoulders.

Hey Francis, thanks for dropping by and for the link. I really must do this again one day. To think I only have one shot of this island. As I mentioned, I really wasn't into photography much then. I had a sony 707 and just plodded along.

I just went to potipot recently and its really beautiful. You don't have to know the owner to be able to stay there. You can even camp out there like we did. Please read about it herehttp://libot.blogspot.com/2006/05/winds-of-change.html more details here http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tt/7b7be/#TL and here http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tt/7b7c0/#TL

A friend of mine owns a resort in Zambales and whenever we go to their resort we always find time to visit Potipot- I thought that aside from the locals, we're the only people who knew about it- the beauty of this island lies within its purity- hope that it will remain that way- unexplored :)

Thanks for your comments, Red. How I wish I could go back here again and re take the shot. I took this a few years ago when I was just getting started and I knew nothing about photography. This was taken by a Sony cybershot - I can only dream of how it would look seen through a 10-22 lens.

My wife is from Candelaria, Zambales. I must say I fell in love with this little island because its so pristine and the owners probably abandoned all intent to make it a commercial resort. We could go there anytime we want since my wife's family lives just accross the island and they know those whom to ask permission to. But outsiders could not go in as easily, I must say. And it probably helped it the preservation of this island

Potipot island is actually a private island, unfortunately. You will not be able to go there without the owners permission. Unfortunately I don't know who the owner is. If it is any consolation, there is absolutely nothing to do on the island and it is impractical to get to. I wouldn't recommend you go there for vacation even if you could secure permission. I was only allowed on it because we were filming a TV segment at the time and I just took some shots.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help

James

Beautiful! How does one get to Potipot Island from Manila. Where do we find a place to stay in? We will be going to the Philippines from Washington DC in March.

Potipot is actually in Candelaria, Zambales. We used to visit every summer, during our high school and college days. It's a beautiful island with nothing but white sand.

I used to visit this island a lot. Ir brings back fond memories of my beloved Santa Cruz, Zambales.
