The Hungry Ghost Festival is held in Singapore during the seventh lunar month when it is said that the gates of Hell are flung open and the spirits roam the earth.
The festival features many Getai (literally song stage) performances for the people and spirits alike but the front row seats are traditionally reserved for the spirits. It's bad form to sit in the front row if they are reserved in this way.
