Sometimes called the C & S Line from Denver to Cheyenne, Casper and then northward to Laurel Montana. The Front Range Sub rambles 240 rail miles from Denver to Boulder, Longmont, Fort Collins, Cheyenne and then ends at Wendover on the North Platte River. Through trains traverse the BNSF Valley Subdivision to meet the BNSF Casper Subdivision at Bridger junction, next to I-25 near Douglas Wyoming. Other trains connect with the Powder River Divison at Orin and the Orin Subdivision towards Gillette, Wyoming.
The Casper Subdivison travels 381 rail miles through the Wind River Canyon then eventually to Laurel Montana. The Geology is interesting and changes many times and is a contrast to the Coal hauls of the Powder River Division. Here's a few photos from 2010, 2012 and 2016 including a sample of Windriver Canyon. Hopefully more photos and captions can be added as time allows.
