Trumpeter Swan "SOLO"

Turnbull NWR WA

This old boy "Solo" is 33 to 45 years old. He disapears when things ice up and returns as soon as there is open water. No one knows where he goes for the winter. Last spring a female showed up and they hit it off and produced four young. The family returned a few days ago, there are now three young and the mated pair. Pretty cool!

The old boy looks pretty spry. Nice image Tom. I remember him from my college days doing studies on the refuge.

Great shot, Tom. The swans here are always grubbing in the mud, not too esthetically pleasing.

Very nice Tom. I really like the way he is flapping(?) his wings out. I need to go over to Turnbull as it is just a few miles from our home. Great capture!
