Red Rose

I thought I'd take a crack at a 'flower shot' with the new camera.
I selected a rose from the bouquet I bought (having first reassured my Beloved that
the roses were for HER not me ;o) ), took it outside and set it on a stand', camera on a
tripod of course and shot with the rose backlit by the sun. I used an F22 aperture with
the DX 18-70mm zoom). I am not entirely satisfied with the shot
but it was the best of the bunch.

If anyone has any suggestions or withering criticism I can take it :o)

Nice composition Cliff, but it looks a little soft. The sweet spot on your lens is about f8 - f11, after that things start to get a bit soft. Try the shot again at diffrent f stops and see what is best for your lens.

I like the way the reds and whites pop out. It got my attention!

Maybe a little less sun? Good photo though :)

Reds are difficult and I'm always overblowing the red exposure. Perhaps at f22 you might consider a tripod? It's certainly a beautiful rose and a nice shot.
