The Wonder of it All

Ropley, Hampshire

Two young boys admire the workings of an old steam driven railway breakdown crane, now preserved on the Mid Hants Railway.

One or two of you may remember the Mecanno Magazine - this reminds me of that.

Awesome shot. I love these from behind kid shots. They really leave a lot to the imagination, which is just what you want from kid shots. Puts you in their shoes as it were.

Brilliant catch!

This is superb! It's lovely how this picture could have been taken at any time at all since the engine was first brought out!

Very nice, great job! I think the B&W works very well in this context, giving the image some real timelessness..

I like the sense of wonder that the two boys bring to the shot. Very nice indeed.

I like this Ray. Very ovocative. The sense of scale and the mono treatment makes the photo.

Not the mag, but did have Maccano - remember it being lent to Dad's friends to fit car radio's and so on! Nothing ever quite looked like the pictures! Great shot this one.

This has really a "film" effect (and I have played a lot with Meccano, till the 5th level, I remember ;-)

Excellent Ray. The hugeness of the train looming over them reminds me of that famous photo of Brunel in front of those gigantic chains.
