Into each life some tragedy must fall. Into mine has dropped my 60th birthday. I am now officially old and bound for the scrap-heap. So, to minimize the pain of my 60th birthday, Sue and I went to Madrid for a long weekend. I love Spain and the Hispanic world and am now learning Spanish (unusually, "cerveza" was only the second word I learned in Spanish - the first word, or phrase was, "No pasaran". While we were there we visited the magnificant Reina Sofia museum and saw Picasso's Guernica (so, now you know where my first Spanish phrase came from...)
