This is our (Sue and I) first vacation to Austria in over ten years. The Tyrol is very beautiful and we spent two weeks walking round Alpbach (not too far from Innsbruck). We stayed at the Alpbacherhof Hotel where the food was probably the best I have ever had at any hotel in my life - it was quite magnificent (sometimes with six courses). Moreover, the staff were exceptionally friendly.
Strangely, I found it far harder to take good photographs in picturesque Alpbach than anywhere else I've visited. Photographing New York is far easier than the Tyrol. The problem with the Tyrol is the tendency for images to look like 'chocolate box' pictures. The only way to get a perfect picture is to wait for snow, blue sky, and a pretty mountain - and then you have an image just like every other. So, I hope my offering here isn't too bad!
