Other kind of trees

I started recently to work on my family tree and gave it my mother for her 80th bday. In the background is my family country house next to Genoa, Italy.

I also worked on a more complex project, the result of which is shown in the first picture attached here. This is the family tree of my wife and myself, down to our kids, based on the result of our respective DNA testing. We did the DNA testing as part of the worldwide Genographic project financed by the National Geographic. I would recommend anyone to do this as it is intriguing and amazing. The results are stunning as we could trace the origin of our ancestral families back to the first migrations out of Africa tens of thousand years ago. When we got the results, I though for sometimes how to superimpose the geographical with the hystorical perspectives given by both the DNA testing results and our respective family trees. The result is what you can see, two migration routes projected on the map, with explanatory texts. I also added pictures of the recent reproductions using forensic analyses of our pre-Homo sapiens hominid ancestors. The result, at least for me, is quite interesting, as it gives a visual representation of where we came from all the way back million of years.

I hope that some of the viewers could comment on this little project of mine and advise on how to improve it. Now that I have gone through the painful experience of consolidating all the info, I would like to be able to provide the same service to anyone interested. Please let me know whether you know of someone interested in the same visual reprsentation for their origins!!
