The Golden Huntsman

At Home, SE Arizona

I found this extremely healthy specimen above my head on my kitchen wall early in the morning.
At first I thought it was a Wolf Spider as we get those frequently. It was, however, much fatter
than any of the Wolf Spiders I had seen. I later id'd it by a photo on www.whatsthatbug.com as a
Golden Huntsman Spider, Olias fasciculatus. The size of this is somewhere between a Wolf Spider and
a Tarantula. I asked my husband to kindly remove it, but first, let me take a couple pics!

Extremely healthy. It means he's had a lot to eat. What else lives in your kitchen? Maybe you should have left him there to keep things under control!
