Vietnam by Train


Shooting from train windows does have its challenges. All these were taken from passenger cars, with window down 2 ft from top. Traveling from Ha Noi to Saigon, approx 36 hr trip. With speeds up to 40 mph, this was one of the many challenges, along with passengers squeezing by, bumpy ride to name a few. You will see many pictures out of focus, telephone wires, lots of rice fields, cows, cemeteries and homes, all shot hand-held from moving train. So enjoy the ride, unusual ride for me and I hope for you. Let me know your thought

we will be doing the same train journey of train ride hanoi to saigon with my mom and sister and seeing this pictures makes me realize now that i didnt make a wrong choice over plane ride. i'm so excited now i just hope the weather is good during our travel date.

I am doing the train trip from Saigon - Hanoi in August 07 (soft sleeper AND soft seat)...Hope to get photos as good as those to remind me of my journey.
I don;t think there is any better way to mingle and meet others than by train.

Thanks for coming by hanoi gallery, which is all of my vietnam for now. I'm impressed (and envious) of your journey.... I'll be making subsequent trips to see the rest of Vietnam over the next few months. I'll also be in Myanmar for a month (work + photography) early next year - that's a place you must go to........
