Possibly John Johnston, first surviving son of our Red Robin and Mae.

The paper holder is lightly embossed making it very difficult to show the pattern.
Dating this image is a bit like playing Sherlock Holmes. The scarf-type tie, button hole in the right lapel, high buttoned collared vest with lapels and bushy beard are indicative of the period 1865-1875.
This image is from an original tintype photograph which was scanned, emailed to me, and restored in 2005. The tintype image measures 1-7/8"x3" while the paper holder measures 2-7/16"x3-7/8".
