John Johnston (#6)

Pearland, Texas

Probably John McQueen Johnston, first surviving son of our Red Robin and Mae.

John was a firebrand from what I have gathered from family oral history. If he wasn't arguing with one of his neighbors, and he argued with all of them, he was arguing with his wife. It is reported that she moved out on him 10 times, but always returned. John was just as quick to be a loving husband and father. One has to wonder if he was bi-polar...

Photographer: William McConnell of Plantagenet, Ontario, CANADA

The paper holder is lightly embossed making it very difficult to show the pattern.

Dating this image is a bit like playing Sherlock Holmes. The scarf-type tie, button hole in the right lapel, high buttoned collared vest with lapels and bushy beard are indicative of the period 1865-1875.

This image is from an original tintype photograph which was scanned, emailed to me, and restored in 2005. The tintype image measures 1-7/8"x3" while the paper holder measures 2-7/16"x3-7/8". full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto
