William Graves and wife Grace (Peer) Graves ? (#33)

Flint, Michigan, U. S. A.

William Arthur Graves, 1872-1950
Grace Maude (Peer) Graves, 1877-1950

Identification was made by keying in on the children, number and sex. It would appear to "fit". William's coat style fits a description of the 1890's styling to a "T" - "...narrower, shorter coats, with sleeves so short that the cuff was often exposed. These tightly fitted coats were worn buttoned all the way up front." Grace's dress style is that of the late 1880's - "Bodices were worn tight, with high collars. Sleeves were mostly narrow, and ended short of the wrist.."

Restoration incomplete.

From an original tintype photograph which was taken in the late 1890's, scanned, emailed, and restored in 2005. The tintype image measures 2-1/4"x3-1/4". hide exif

Cliff,

It was in the 1880's that these coats were worn by buttoning only the top button.
