Flint, Michigan, U. S. A.

Christopher Colin Johnston, 1855-1936

Son of Robert "Red Robin" Johnston and Mary "Mae" Frances McQueen

Photographer unknown. Original tintype image taken July, 1873.

Christopher Colin and his girlfriend Elenor "Ellen" McDonald left both their families in Prescott County, Ontario, Canada, shortly after Christmas of 1880 and took a train to Michigan to visit Colin's sister Isabella and her family. Colin and Ellen were married within the month on January 30, 1881, in Corunna, Michigan. They decided to remain in Michigan where they bought a farm and raised their children. Several of their descendants can be found in the Midland, Michigan, area today.

From an original tintype photograph, taken July, 1873, which was scanned, emailed to me, and restored in 2005. The tintype image measures 2-1/16"x3-1/4" while the paper holder measures 2-7/16"x3-15/16". hide exif
