Talk about a gorgeous head of hair! As with all of his brothers Attie went bald shortly after getting married. Was it genetics or married life? lol... Attie was referred to by his mother as a little "Scamp" - with affection, of course! My Dad had many fond memories of his Uncle Attie. With a smile on his face he used to tell me how they would tap the maple trees and make maple syrup and sugar in the spring time. Then his Aunt Annie would make piles of pancakes (over which they would pour the fresh maple syrup) with bacon and eggs...ummm, good!

Uncle Attie went on to become a successful farmer, owning 500 acres of land, He was also a Mason.

From a set of 4 original tintype photographs dated December 8, 1874, this image was scanned, emailed to me, and restored in 2005. The tintype image measures 1-11/16"x2-1/8" while the paper holder measures 2-3/8"x3-5/8". full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Attie is my great grandfather. My mother and her siblings grew up in the farmhouse with their parents and grandparents in Pendleton. bonnieminor@yahoo.com
