OK, so I'm just insecure enough to state up front that I'm NOT GAY - as far as I know. I've also got to say this is one of the liveliest, most fun parades I've attended. It's not one of your hugely expensive, 100 brass band, glittery parades. It's more like a small town, make your own costume, borrow a truck and make a float kind of parade - with nudity and some behaviours your maiden aunt wouldn't find AT ALL amusing. The prettier, more flouncy and colorful the costume, the more likely it is to be worn by a male. And, a big surprise to me, the more minimal (or non-existent) the costume, the more likely it's on a female. But whatever the (non)costume, I've never been at a parade where everyone, marchers and gawkers alike, were so happy to be there. If you have't attended Toronto's Pride Parade you should try to get out to next year's. Hey, if it's good enough for the mayor, the police chief, the fire chief and the leader of one of Canada's major political parties and his wife, it's probably respectable enough for you. You gotta love a city that supports a parade like this.
