The Whales

From July-October from Westerly, RI to Old Lyme, CT there are 47 whales on display... there are also 3 others: one each in New York, Boston, and Newport... For a total of 50 whales all of which are photographed below!! I have the Whale's artist info as well as the charity each is going to be auctioned for in the details for each photo.

"The Whale Trail" http://www.thewhaletrail.com is a public art event in the nature of the famous "Cow Parade". At the end of the viewing period all of the whales will be auctioned off for charity.... There are 2 molds of whales. One is a Sperm Whale (the Connecticut State Animal) and the other is a Beluga Whale... All are about 5 feet tall/long...

I love these kinds of public art projects. I've been hooked since the area around the Lehigh Valley in PA did it with mules a couple years back. Your gallery is great fun and I especially like the additional information that accompanies each photo. Thanks.

Did you go to each city to take these photos? I had only downtown and just a few days. The sharks all left by the next month, October, 2001.
