Alexander Milne first settled the northern end of the valley now known as Wilket Creek following the War of 1812. It was known as Milne Creek until 1950.
At just under 44 hectares, the valley wilderness park offers more than 5 km of pedestrian/bicycle trails as well as plenty of undisturbed woodland excellent for nature walks.
Wilket Creek is a small fast-flowing stream which runs between steep, valley walls through a narrow flood plain. The ESA extends from Wilket Creek along the steep
south-facing valley wall of the main Don River. Wetlands in the form of marshes and wet scrub communities occur where seepage from the slopes has accummulated on the flood plain.
