Hi Don, thanks for your very kind comment.

Lots of people have mistaken this for a composite. It was hanging in a gallery for a short time, and at a party I overheard another photographer explaining to some people how I had combined 2 images - 1 for the sky and 1 for the mountain to make this shot. I politely interupted to assure them it was not a composite. I think it was the distance (about 50 miles from the mountain) that enabled such a broad view from the foreground to the high altitude sky (the mountain itself is over 14,000 feet) to allow for the multiple layers of tones and atmospheric conditions. It was just a little unusual atmospherically that day and I happened to be in the right place at the right time. Thanks, Cindy

A truly magnificent photo! It's almost like viewing a composite, yet we know it isn't. The mountain, a feast of contrasts draped in a white cloak virtually floats above a peaceful, benevolent valley like a diety.
