Below are photos of fossils I found in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. From the research I have done they appear to be from the Upper Carboniferous (Pennsylvanian) period, and are between 310 and 280 million years old. This period had a warm climate and swampy land. All of these fossils are of trees and plants, some of which I could identify through research and others I could not. Most of the fossils are pith casts, which are the core of a tree. When the tree died the core filled with sediment which eventually turned to stone, and formed these casts. If anyone who views this gallery can identify any of the unknown fossils or can correct any mis-identifications I have made, the information would be greatly appreciated.
