I had not been back to the Okefenokee since the fires of 2007. The Bugaboo Scrub Fire burned from April through July of '07 and scorched over 80% of the wildlife refuge. It was the largest fire in the history of both Florida and Georgia. I was afraid of what I might find - but the refuge is still teaming with wildlife and plants. The day was fantastic for getting out there - low humidity and a nice cool breeze.
