I lived in the village of Ramstein, up on the hill outside the town for a few months before moving into PMQ's (Private Members Quarters) on Ramstein Airbase. Remember biking the hills of the villages and taking the bus to school on the base. My sister and I were given rides up the hill by horse drawn farm cart. We did Christmas and Halloween in the village itself, Deutchland style and were shown a great deal of hospitality by the local population. We were there between 1959-1962.

Great images! I lived in Ramstein village for one year and three years on the air base from 1957-1961 as a military brat. Went swimming in Landstuhl at the Schwimmbad and to high school in Kaiserslautern. Loved every minute of the four years I was there. Finally went back in 2008 and couldn't get on-base but the village was basically the same - it brought back many fond memories. Thanks for posting these and I will visit this site frequently.
