One of the hidden gems in Raleigh is the large cemetery that has many Civil War graves. I forget the name but the photos would be outstanding!
Pullen Park is pretty neat.

Raleigh's city image is becoming what its supposed to be. I'm proud of my adopted home.
Let me say that I totally agree with Keddrick Clark. Having taken thousands of photos of Downtown Raleigh, and maintaining www.raleighmsa.com (although a bit outdated), I can say with certainty that Raleigh is not a photogenic city. Being built as a state government center has taken toll, although there was a golden era of urbanity that lasted until the 50's, or 60's, the latest. Beyond that, urban sprawl became the norm.
Luckily, there are some areas in DT Raleigh where there is a little charm, but the lack of a historic core is evident. With 25% of the city's development taking place in downtown, I expect the urban fabric, along with the skyline, to change dramatically between 2008 and 2012, when we expect the tripling of our high-rises.
Jayson, I apologize for taking up this space to talk about DT Raleigh. You took some nice photos and I thank you for sharing them with us. In fact, I enjoyed ALL of your galleries I visited so far. Next time you are in Raleigh, spend a little time in Historic Oakwood, Glenwood South and The Warehouse District, all of which are within walking distance from the CBD and less than 10 minutes apart from each other). While nothing major in terms of urbanity, you may find many more interesting subjects to photograph in those areas... until we get our skyline situation straighten up :)

Raleigh..the Capital of North Carolina. 360,000 residents(JAN.2007). COmbined with Durham, Raleigh/Durham has 1.6 million people.Raleigh has ALWAYS had a problem with building skyscrapers(to keep small city charm) hence, the downtown is SMALLER than it should be!! Downtown Raleigh is FINALLY experiencing a building boom, with over 12 new high rises proposed or under construction, and more to come....a BEAUTIFUL city with LOTS of potential!
