to Guest, yes it does look like the Admiral on St Louis side of River. I also grew up in East St Louis (born 1945 @ Christian Welfare). Spent many happy days with parents and friends on the Admiral - loved it. Studied accordion at Sunny Shields Music Studio and our
accordion band played on the Admiral several times. Last I heard the Admiral was a fixed/floating casino but then heard from a cousin in St Louis that it had been dismantled. So no telling how old this picture is.

Is that the U.S. Admiral docked across the river?
I can't believe that is still around.

I was born in East St. Louis in 1952. I left in 1971, after graduating from East Side. I use to love to go to Parson's Field to watch football and track. This sight, reminds me of the times, we use to go down to the Mississippi River, and dive off the barges. We lived in "Rush City" south end, going towards Cahokia. The Monsanto Plant was our neighbor, they use to burn tons of toxic waste and the smoke would blow into our community. That smoke was PCBs that caused cancer. We didn't know..Now, in this new age of technology, we can research it. Also, to all of you, that use to play on "Red Hill" back in the day. That was a land fill with toxic waste, that they dumped into the community, knowing that it was harmful. Google the word Monsanto.
