Cincinnati is wondrous with all the pics you photographed and what is not included as the schools, teachers and what they have all done to go onward with after their education, e.g. CCM and DAAP, the city planners and gardens galore. Lived in other cities I wanted to leave, but never this one. It is certainly on the map now and noticed, first to Go Green,. and more. The gardens and markets year around enhnce it. More former students think about coming back here or staying to start with. Look at Marvin from SCPA down at Fountain Square.!!!!!

Thank you so much for your beautiful pictures. I moved with my parents to Allentown Pa. way back in 1969 from Milford, Ohio. I was born in Booth Hospital in 56 and a lot of my relatives still live in Covington and Ludlow Ky. These pictures bring tears to my eyes because I haven't been in Cincy since the early 80's. My grandparent's lived on Highway Ave. in Covington in one of the big houses that were built in the late 1800's. I long to see that house again I dream about it all the time. It was built orginally for a captain on the Ohio River and it actually had a lookout on the top of the roof that you could see the river. Home will always be Cincy/Ky area for me.

Jayson all of you photos of Cincy is absolute beautiful. I was wondering if you had any old pictures of Riverfront Stadium. While I love the new stadiums and way it seemed to change the skyline view, I would love to see some pictures of the city with Riverfront stadium in it. Fantastic views of thie beautiful city!! Do you know you might get permission to take some pictures from the upper floors of several of the high rise apartment buildings that have great views of the city and the hills east of downtown. I have done this in the past..Jack/Tipp City, Ohio. Also, I have some great pics of Cincy and the Ohio river west of downtown from the Ky hills.

I lived in Cincinnati while attending Xavier. Moved to Pittsburgh after graduation and have lived in Atlanta and Westport, CT otherwise. I now live in Jacksonville, FL. I've been all over the U.S. and I can write without hesitation that Cincinnati is a truly wonderful town. Churchill was right: it is America's most beautiful inland city. I would love to be sitting in the Blind Lemon right now, knocking one down while listening to the music while looking at the fire. Thank you for these pictures. Great memories.

Wow ! Great pictures. I used to live around the Cincinnati area, namely N. Ky & Hamilton, but worked in downtown Cincy. Love every minute of the 4 yrs I worked there. I would ride a bus in & walk downtown to work on the very streets that are in your pictures. I miss it very much. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.

I was raised in Cincinnati and went on the internet to find some info for a class. I didn't know there were so many nice buildings in Cincinnati. Some I noticed were in the down town area. I didn't go down town unless I had to. Still I was surprised to see all the buildings I didn't know were there.

These are the most beautiful pictures of Cincinnati I have ever seen. I have always loved this city, but have come to appreciate it even more after going to college and living in Richmond, Kentucky at Eastern Kentucky University. I am constanly on this site admiring the pictures and the city that I love most. One place I suggest you vist is in the North Bend area at the Harrison Park. The memorial tower/ tomb is amazing and has breath taking views of the Ohio river, as does the surrounding roads. Thanks again for the pictures! I love coming back to the city! -Matt

Beautiful photos of a gorgeous city; thank you. A question for you, though: where are the photos of Madisonville and Madison Place? That area of town is one of the most populous areas of the city, and it has some very visually attractive features. Yet, it is one of the most neglected (and disrespected) areas, too. It need not be that way and I'd love to see what your camera could capture in the Madisonville/Madison Place neighborhood!

I too, would like to see some pictures of Saint Bernard. There is a beautiful church and it is also home to P&G's old factories, St. Bernard Soap Factory and old corporate headquarters, which are old and very cool looking buildings. Keep up the great work!

Excellent photos. I come from your sister city from China---Liuzhou. I've stayed in Clifton, Hyde Park and Indian Hill for 4 and half months. I've visited the Amish Scholl and given the lectures about Chinese culture in Mariemont and Loveland libraries. I enjoyed Skyline and Greater. I love this website.It takes me back to the most beautiful moment in my life. It inspres me to come back again. I also took many beautiful photos when I was In Cincinnati. As a former Cincinnatian living in New York, I almost had little tears in my eyes seeing your pictures from Price Hill, and the West End... especially the pictures of the old mansions on Dayton Street. I used to walk by them on the way to school in my earliest childhood days. After moving to Price Hill later on, I was also very nostalgic about seeing those photos on Carnation avenue, too. You have given former residents a nice collection to view and your work is excellent. Thank you so much for this great collection... you are to be commended.

Hi - I am "exiled" in Atlanta from my beautiful hometown of Cincinnati. I love the city and its outlying areas so much -- it is where I was born, grew up, married, had my kids. I want to go back soon and am planning on it, but until I'm standing on good old Ohio soil again, I could not ask for a better substitute than this site. My whole life has been the Reds and Bengals, Ruth Lyons, the original Izzy's downtown, classes at U.C., I could go on and on, but I won't. I have thoroughly enjoyed the pictures! Thank you so much!

Jayson, Before your pictures I had never seen what Cincinnati looked like, I am impressed very very beautiful. I very rarely find an inland city that looks as good as my hometown(Pittsburgh,Pa.) but I think cincy gives it a run for it's money, I wonder how Cincinnati didn't make it on the world's best skylines list. I think it should have been placed somewhere near pittsburgh's ranking. I was thinking about moving for a change of enviroment and scenery, now I will add Cincy to my list of places to checkout. I agree with Steffi (who posted in Jun 2006) that Cincinnati is probably the most beautiful American city. I've traveled all over the states, and nothing compares. When I was in Mount Adams, I distinctly remember feeling like I was in Montmartre in Paris. It's amazing. I think it's important to note that I do not live there, rather I am a student in Milwaukee (another great city, but not nearly as beautiful) but I've traveled there numerous times and have every intention of moving there when I graduate. Jayson, What an eye! You picked absolutely perfect buildings and scenes to represent each area! The feel and flavor are conveyed so well. Your Mt. Washington shot is the exact one I took to send to my hubby in Vietnam in 1968. Being Mt. Washington residents, I wanted him to "feel" home.

I was born and raised in Cincinnati. Your photography is excellent - you have a great way of making even the worst of neighborhoods look decent. I left Cincinnati many years ago, and have no interest in ever moving back. But your photos do show how great a lot of the older architecture is in that area.

Kathy, while King's Island did replace Coney Island in its original form in 1972, Coney Island is still alive and well. In the summer, the Sunlite pool is so packed you're lucky to see the water. You can find more information here: http://www.coneyislandpark.com/

Lisa, I think Coney Island is now called Kings Island and is not in the same location as you knew Coney to be. I grew up in Cincy and I now live in Albuquerque. I remember spending time at Sunlite Pool and going to Moonlite Gardens there in Coney. Great Memories. Kathy.

Jayson thank you for adding this website to the net. I lived in Cincinnati during the 60's and 70s as a child and have not been back very often since then. I also lived in suburban Chicago during my highschool years and was very excited to show my husband where I had lived until we actually had a chance to visit there again. My heart dropped and I felt miserable that I had ever went back. Areas that I remembered as fun and idealic now seemed just one step from a warzone. At least now I can look at Cincinnati and know that the old girl has still held up to the memory I have of her. I may even plan a vacation there again!

This is great! My husband and I are relocating to the city next summer and this is a great starting point for sorting out all the neighborhoods and suburbs. I'm originally from the area (Owensville) and I can't wait to get back and live closer to downtown than where I grew up. Nice shots :)

Hi everyone, between September 2003 and September 2004 I lived in Cincinnati. I worked there as an Au Pair and it was the most wonderful year of my life. I really enjoyed the time in the states. And I absolutely love Cincinnati. I think for a German Au Pair it is one of the most beautiful cities to be in the states. I enjoyed for example my first Octoberfest in Cincinnati. I have never been to the Octoberfest in Germany, because I live in the western part between Cologne and Frankfurt and it is pretty far away from Munich. So I was really happy to see so many beautiful pictures of the city. Thank you so much for the great pictures. The pictures I took in Cincinnati are not close as good as those. Steffi from Germany

after my father died in the 50's, my mother moved all of us seven kids to florida. i was 8 at the time,lived at 1413 regent ave.and attended st.agnus school.i remember "brighhollies" candy store next to the church on california ave.i still have such a longing for beautiful cincinnati! my father was a pharmacist for abbott labratoties and when not filling prescriptions,he was making customers sodas .anyone out there remember us? jhw6880@yahoo.com

Cincinnati is a great city. I moved here from Pittsburgh. Best decision of my life. Cincinnati is more planned out than Pittsburgh. Every year in Pittsburgh you hear about buildings ready to slid down the hillside cause they were poorly planned. But they also say that Cincy and St. Louis are competing with eachother. Wheres the comepetion? I have been to St. Louis their riverfront isnt the greatest. Cincinnati spends more on their riverfront than any other city in the United States. I cant wait for the Banks Project to get underway. And for the Queen City Tower to get underway also.

Jayson...the term 'ohmigod!' does not begin to do your photos justice...I had lived in this area before (April 98-May 99 in Roselawn) and as luck would have it, I met the love of my life in Middletown, where I live now...Your shots bring back such a powerful and overwhelming flood of memories, and wishes for memories yet to come...Cincinnati and Sothwestern Ohio as a whole get a bad rap sometimes (I'm a native of Cleveland), but I challenge anyone not from this area to look at your photos and not be moved by what they see...I am proud to once again live in this area, with its abundant architectural and natural beauty, friendly people, low cost of living, and a plethora of things to do and see and places to go...LOL---and yes, I have my own suggestions for more photos, i.e. College Hill, Madisonville, more shots of Northside, Dayton, Mt. Airy, more shots of Mt. Auburn (those views of the city from up there stole my breath)...you, sir, have something wonderful here, and the world outside SW Ohio needs to know!

Over-the-Rhine is a Cincinnati neighborhood located directly north of downtown. The area really began to expand in the late 1820s with the construction of the Miami and Erie Canal, which formed the boundaries of the neighborhood to the south and west. Over-the-Rhine quickly gained a reputation as an ethnic neighborhood, with almost half of its residents being German immigrants. The area got its name because members of the city observed that crossing over the Miami and Erie Canal was like crossing the Rhine River into Germany. Today the southern boundary is Central Parkway where the canal was once located. The other neighborhoods that border it are the West End, Mt. Auburn, Pendleton & Fairview.

I graduated from UC. I came to Cincinnati from Asia in 1989. I lived in Clifton Area. But I still do not have an idea what is the area of "Over the Rhine". There are many great examples of magnificent photos depicting cities all over the world that are on every tourist's list as "must see" on the internet. You have given Cincinnati that "must see" enticement by your splendid photography not only for those who have never been to Cincinnati but also for the hometowner who has lived here for sixty- five years. I've seen Cincy today through the eye of a camera lens that captures the true essence and romance that makes our hometown the "Queen City".

I�m currently studying in Spain at an international Spanish language school (in Sept. 2005). I had to do a presentation in Spanish about my home country, and as the only American (and Ohioan...and Cincinnatian....) in my class, I really wanted to show my fellow classmates the beauty of my city. Thank you for supplying me with gorgeous pictures that make my heart hurt with homesickness and will hopefully convince my international friends to come and visit me and Cincinnati. As one who is contemplating moving to Cincinnati, your photo website has been an invaluable resource. Cincy gets pegged as a real "stick-in-the-mud" place, but these pictures show evidence of a real funky and colorful city. I keep looking at it again and again. Can't stop myself! Maybe you left off the boring sections. A photo website like this can do more good than the biggest municipal PR blitz could ever hope. Only one suggestion - some extra comments might tell us which buildings and places we are looking at.
