Thanks guys.
Traveller, if you'd like to see more from this lens, check out my Flickr site.
Then do a search for 70D, 6D, 1D4, and 80D.
Most of my shots with those 4 cameras from the last 2 years, I used the Sigma 150-600 C lens.
I'm very happy with it, It weighs about half of what my Canon 300F2.8 with a 2x tc.
Add to the fact that you can zoom in and out just makes it that much better to use.

As wonderful as this image is, (action, cropping, general interest, etc), what it says to me is that I could have a sigma lens in my future....just clean and lovely. Traveller

Wowser. That's a great shot at any temperature. Kudos for risking frostbite to capture in such balmy conditions.

The water is open because of two reasons.
1) This is on a river near a narrows, so there is some current in this area.
2) There are a couple of hundred swans/geese/ducks flapping, diving, swimming in this pool.
Their movements help keep the hole open.

I can always move it to exhibition. (if it looks like people will vote for it) :D

At + 10F I'm wondering why that body of water isn't solid ice. I also agree that your lens kicks ass big time but on the other hand I'd think you'd know better than put something this great in the challenge. It seems to create a chain reaction with the voters if you know what I mean. Paul

A lot of the people I know are in love with the new 100-400 ver II.
I have the ver I like you, it's strange, that lens never worked all that well with any of my crop cameras,
but on the full framers, I have no complaints.
Probably something to do with pixel size/pitch, but it (the ver I) is very good on the 6D.
The problem is I lose a lot of reach, and it never seems like I have enough reach.
They also say the ver II takes the 1.4 tc very well.

Dave,
I mentioned the 80D , as I am starting to look for a new lens or two for my 80D.
Re focus - my Canon 100-400 (older version) has a switch for short/long range focus. If in the short range, it too sometimes has issues on achieving focus on something at long range; especially if the field of view has some short range stuff in it.

Thanks Jim.
The Sigma works well with all my bodies. 6D 70D 80D.
The one quirk, if the focus is at say the min. focal distance, a lot of times you
have to manually move it for a long distance shot.
Not all the time, but it does happen.
It may be because it's winter, who knows.

This is a great capture; and I like the post work.
That Sigma works well with the 80D.
