My Moon is Oblong (as is my heart)

I had much cloud cover when the moon was at its full flood, but sometimes Oblong is better (at least it was there for me!) {double edit, I put a brighter and larger one over in Pending...but to emphasize the egg-shapedness of this, I think distant is better. If you prefer the pending, let me know)

other sizes: small medium large original auto

I like this, Traveller. If the moon had been full, the lighting would be very flat - just like when using direct flash mounted on a camera. Here, the sunlight is coming from the side and that side light emphasizes the craters and valleys, especially around the rim. - Ken

Paul, nothing too special...my 70~200 non-is F4L. The trick maybe was a short extension on the tripod, no mirror lock up though I should have done this, a 2 second delay on the shutter with me putting all my weight on the tripod to make it absolutely steady when the shutter fired. I can see a difference between the shots when the tripod was stable, still with a short neck, and when I was hanging my weight on the tripod. Hummmmm....Best Wishes, Traveller

Say now, not bad at all. What lens were you using and where did you find this dark of sky in LA? Did you run up to the Griffith Observatory? PAul

Both are good; both clearly show the oblong moon.
As a photo for the challenge, I prefer this one, as I think that the additional black background sets it off better.
