Thanks to the both of you. I am starting to play much more with composing and making panoramics; and I'm finding some significant advantages. The original pano (not seen here) is 40M px in size, so I can keep a lot of detail. And I can use the "sweet spot" of my lens, in this case ~50mm, to get the sharpest images I can to work with. Thus, I can get the advantages of a v. large M pixel camera coupled with a high quality wide angle lens (which I don't have) to produce a sharp, wide angle photo with minimum lens distortion. Obviously there are a few disadvantages, but I can live with those.
